· By Sommersmith · Published 2022-03-18T10:00:25.956Z

This crossword celebrates the 30th anniversary of one of my favorite albums by They Might Be Giants (hereafter: TMBG), and features quotes and trivia from their whole career throughout the puzzle. I hope you enjoy it whether you're a TMBG fan or not!

I made a Spotify playlist with (almost) all the TMBG songs quoted or referenced in the puzzle: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2TzffwnapfmDJt3rmRPOlv?si=a578d305b56044c9

TMBG nearly single-handedly got me into music in the late '90s and I'm fully indebted to them for not only their clever wit and wordplay but for really helping me broaden and expand my musical taste. Wonderful tribute to a wonderful album.

Thank you! Yes, they were pivotal in shaping my musical tastes too!

This made me really happy. (Except...30 years. Damn I'm old.)
Also that's an impressive amount of thematic material.

Thank you! (And I might have had "20th anniversary" in the blog post for a long time...)

I'm mostly familiar with TMBG's songs for kids, so thanks for throwing in some of those! Or So I Have Read is so catchy.

I don't know their music as well as I should (other than a couple of well-known songs) so I put this album on to do this crossword and 1) that helped tremendously and 2) both the puzzle and the album were wonderful! Fun fact: I saw TMBG live in college and it wasn't promoted very well so there were only a few dozen of us there to see them. Thanks for the puzzle!

I'm a huge TMBG fan and this was a delight! Though, IMHO "Flood" is their best album, by far. :) Great job!

I just discovered this after making my own TMBG puzzle and then checking online to see if anyone else had already beaten me to the punch. Not too much overlap otherwise, but still... Anyway, I really enjoyed this. And now I know I'm not all alone all alone all by myself.
