This month's midi contest theme is from @girlcow. She chose the perfect theme to inspire me!
You'll come to notice something specific delimited in the midi crossword I've designed here. Finish the grid, then follow the prompt to complete this sentence: "This well-known keeper of livestock is..."
Cheers!

The answer to the meta is, of course, Old MacDonald. Three symmetrical lines in the grid, as well as the puzzle title, all share the sequence E-I-E-I-O. You may also notice that all clues and words in the grid contain only the vowels E, I, and O, too.
I have been constructing meta 15x15 puzzles for the past year. This was my second midi to construct and a fun challenge! Thanks for playing! Cheers!
Not sure I understand the reason for the gray squares.
Would have been great if we coul... oh! Now I get the gray squares! ... d have fit in a BAA. (Maybe an alternative to 33A "What do you think of my argument?" "BAA!")
Got it! Thanks for catching that! Funny, I was careful not to use "y" as a vowel or diphthong, so then changed that clue last minute because I originally had "in seismology" (y as a vowel)! Not sure how that "a" got in there! ha ...I've fixed it now, but it may take up to an hour to update! Thanks again!

Oh wow, I only just now noticed that the clues are restricted to EIO also!

LOLZ! I tried three different spellings before I realized I was entering the answer into the wrong puzzle.
Lol. Yeah, that part was my own self-made challenge. It gets tricky when you realize that final-y is a vowel, too! I changed the clue for Reno from "Biggest Little City in the World"... and there are a few others that I could have done better. Thanks for solving!

Smells like money! As a native Iowan, I'm glad to see the farmers getting some love! (and some familiar names like the Des Moines Register)
OK, my fault, I spelled OLD MCDONALD and it was wrong, then went with MCDONALD, again wrong. How could that be, this is not supposed to be a pageant puzzle...OH, probably MACDONALD - wrong...Ah yes OLD MACDONALD, EI EI YIKES!
Thanks Darth I had an answer here and an answer there and an answer everywhere an answer answer...
Lol. "Oh oh" here, and "oh, oh" there! I think this puzzle is playing as "very difficult" due to the McDonald entries, but I didn't wanna accept it. I should add "MacDonald" though. Thanks. :D
