Lol. I got stuck on the peso in the fourth themer, but after the others I knew I had to look further and saw the Peruvian coin in there. Thanks for the fun puz.

Peso instead of sol through me off at first and I had to backfill to find naira.
Loved the tie-in with “money doesn’t grow on trees” and the playful title doing double-duty!! Sol is new to me… I used Naira in a puzzle once and thought to myself this is not great fill but went with it anyway and someone commented on it so it stuck in my mind - fun puzzle thank you!

I was caught in some clever misdirection and had to be evaluated in the medical tent. I was released and saw the light. Thanks for a clever puzzle.

Fun one. But putting PESO and SOL right together was a bit confusing. Took a minute to sort that out. Thanks for puzzle!

That was fun. I found 5 currencies in the 4 long across answers… Naira; Euro; Won; then Peso and Sol in “bagpipesolo” . I thought I was looking for NEWSPAPER so I guessed that before going in search of it in the down answers. When I couldn’t find any more currencies, I guessed NEWS.
The “Peso”/ “sol” may confuse others!
Thanks for the mind workout for Monday!
Ran into the same South-of-the-Border money troubles, but went out on a limb, made the correct guess, then came here and realized what the confusion was.
Loved so many of the clues; thanks for the puzzle, schmidzy!

Yes, PESO tripped me up as well. In addition, I found a few other currency abbreviations that made me try NEWSPAPER at first. Lots of fun!
Here’s the kicker, when you google: “symbol for peso” the first hit you get is Mexican peso which is $… HOWEVER when you google “peso symbol” (which is what I did) the first hit you get is Philippine peso which is ₱… so depending on how you google it, you might have trouble finding that missing “S” with the intended mechanism

No idea how to get to the answer. Just a wild guess based on something that popped out at me.

Peso nearly tripped me up, but I was already thinking NEWSPAPER so I googled the money list and looked under the S’s! Fun puzzle, cute title, and what a great double-duty GROW ON TREES is doing!

Great puzzle! I too got confused with peso next to sol lol
Really fun. I had PESO instead of SOL like many others, and thought maybe the answer would actually be NEWSPAPER somehow- and, with paper being the slang for money, it would have been kind of a double meaning to the theme/answer.
Good thing I tried plain old NEWS before I wasted an hour trying to find currencies in here for SAPER to fill out the remaining letters necessary to complete NEWSPAPER!
Thanks Schmidzy (or “Pairo” as the case may be). The first one was WON, but then I saw PESO and EURO. NAIRA was the hard one but I think I have seen it before. When I got NEWP I knew I was wrong and needed an S. Your title led me in the right direction, nice start for Monday.

I knew Euro and Peso (which didn't count, anyway), but I needed Google for the others. Great title! Thanks, Schmidzy!

The comments on the forum made me think I had missed something. PESO after NEW made me think that the something was S_ PAPER. I was wrong. It was indeed that simple.
