I haven't revisited it since the early 70s, but all the lyrics are clogging my brain still somehow. "The bookers all say we'll rue the day; there'll be hell to pay in firey purgatory. Through all the gloom, through all the gloom, I can see the rays of ravishing light and glory. Is anybody there? Does anybody care? Does anybody see what I see. I see fireworks! I see the pageant and pomp and parade. I hear the bells ringing out. I hear the cannons roar. I see America, all America free forevermore." Thanks for the fun trip back to the 1970s (and the 1770s)!

Hooray! I remember this one from ... 7th grade? 9th grade? "For God's sake, John, SITDOWN!"
Nice one! I love this musical. I had to Google the three theme entries, but "Sit Down John" I knew immediately. "1776" was actually my first thought when the prompt mentioned the dearth of musical numbers lol. From Wikipedia: Scene Three of "1776" holds the record for the longest time in a musical without a single note of music played or sung – over thirty minutes pass between "The Lees of Old Virginia" and "But Mr. Adams", the next song in the show.
Very nice! I had to google but that's OK -- expands my world.
Thanks, Danny!

Nice -- I had to google the ones from 13 and Six, but then I figured out the third was Nine and I definitely recognized the meta -- one of my favorites.
Explanation: Yes, really. A puzzle all about musicals whose titles are numbers. Only three themers in this not-quite-a-full-but-bigger-than-a-midi, all with the same clue: "Musical Number." The answers are "Hey Kendra," a song from the musical (and recent film) 13, "Don't Lose Uer Head" from current Broadway musical (and worldwide phenomenon) Six, and of course "Be Italian" famously performed by Fergie in the film version of the Broadway musical 'Nine.' Looking at the entries for 13-, 6-, and 9-Down, you can see the iconic song title "Sit Down, John" from 1776, a musical which features very few musical numbers!

I realized I was unclear... I was late to see (and solve) THIS PUZZLE, but loved it :-) I've never actually seen any of these musicals.

I did not know any of these songs -- and I just saw "Six" a few weeks ago. And unlike a couple of others here, I was not familiar with "1776" and had to Google the list of TONY winners to get here.
