Touchy Subject

Meta Prompt
The answer to the meta is a three-word phrase.
In social interactions, we know certain topics evoke strong emotion and can lead to intense discussion or even conflict. From religion and politics to personal beliefs and core identities, these “touchy subjects” have the power to polarize and affect our relationships. Empathy is essential to navigate our differences and foster a culture of respectful dialog.
That said, this puzzle contains a message popularized by Shakespeare, but I’d like to move its meaning from the context of romantic relationships to a broader sense. Is that cryptic enough? My test solvers claim this is my "best puzzle construction to date"… but note they are also family and overlook my faults. So... try it and see for yourself. Your feedback is welcome. Thanks!

It helps that we were just referring to Braille (as used in an infamous meta puzzle) on the Friday Zoom call! Nice one, Darth.

Timely, and it works for this one! Lol

YES this was super clever and top tier! Enough confusing scents to distract this dog from the trail for a little while (the politics, God, Trump entries)… but the position of BRAILLE eventually made me say OHHHH! The O’s! Kud-Os!

Perfect! It did what it was intended to do. :D

Ah, nice start to the week! I wasn't on the Friday Zoom call, but someone posted something about Braille on page 4 of the WSJ thread. Thinking it was going to get flagged as a spoiler, I kept looking for that post to disappear. I also kept looking for Braille messages in the WSJ meta, and I did not solve it.

Ok -- gotta confess, I have no idea what the metanism is. Got it solely off of BRAILLE and remembering the Shakespeare quote. Still, a solve is a solve. Now I have to go figure it out. Thanks for the puzzle, Darth!
                • Darth constructor · 2024-06-17T17:39:12.051Z
Yes, a solve is a solve. Now, if you think how braille works, you might just "see" the answer! :D
                • woozy 🤓14:41 · 2024-06-17T15:09:09.196Z
Wow. I've tried to do this metanism so many times and have never been able to pull it off anywhere even as close to this. This was very nicely done.
Took me a bit (not a big bit) to realize the key was the letter O. Was there any other hint to that than "Year O"?
                  • kurtalert 🤓4:48 · 2024-06-17T16:36:09.636Z
My assumption was simply that O is the most dot-like letter in the alphabet.

Thought of the answer, then had to back solve it. Very cool!

Lol. Yes, my intro might have been too telling, but I approve of back solving! :D

Guessed the answer based on the center of the grid and would not have been able to back solve it without the help of other comments to focus on the O's.

Knew immediately to look for Braille letters, but was assuming they'd be found in 2x3 square layout. This wrong idea was further reinforced by the words THE BOX reading downwards in 1d and 2d.

Ah yes, I see that. Rather than a 2x3 for each letter, I opted for a 4x6 and tried to keep it in scale using one column width between letters and two column widths to separate the words. Thanks for staying with it! :D
