    I figured out FANS, then it took me a few tries to get the other word, although it was staring me right in the face. Nice metanism.

          Thanks! I see the path now!! :)... I agree with Hector on the EMO/BLUES because that's how I originally mapped the E... once I saw that comment, I knew to look for CARDINALS instead and got the actual alt team names...

      Very cool metanism and execution, Adam! Opposite of DIS, I got JETS first and took a bit to get to FANS. Actually, I started with "JETJ", getting hung up with LA Clippers matching with the 1A clue.

                        The four teams that were chosen to occur as alternate answers to clues (PANTHERS, CARDINALS, RANGERS, KINGS) are also each the names of other teams in other leagues: Florida, Arizona, NY, Sacramento.
