lol bit more than child's play for me. :) :) Had a tough time with the grid in a couple of places--didn't know 30D, my Little Women knowledge is zero, and despite following Brexit rather closely I had forgotten Raab's name. Also didn't know 23 or 27A, and took forever to see 4D and 14A (despite having personally witnessed the latter at least once). Also didn't know the DMX song (at least by title), and the admirable wickedness of the 70A clue made it rough to get that cross (eventually guessed the DMX bit and then saw how 70A worded). None of which is to complain--it's all totally fair stuff that just happened to hit my blind spots. :) Speaking of which, not having kids the themers didn't really hit me, and when I first googled it the version of the lyrics I found only had the round and round. But knowing that it was a mode of transportation I knew it was probably bus, so I kept googling until I found a version that had at least 3 of the 4 and then went with it. :) Overall very fun, despite my personal failings. :D :D Thanks.

Sorry about the idiosyncratic autobiographical clue at 30D. There are so many more accessible ways to clue it. I guess this one separates those us who spent too much time at Mommy and Me from the those who did not.
Overwhelming sense of relief when got “Your submission is correct!” Grid felt like I got run over by a bus, esp 25A. Thanks, Jay!

This bus took me on a trip down memory lane. Did anyone else listen to the Raffi cassette tape with your children so often that you started hoping it would wear out? And I seem to recall we also had a picture board book as well with moving parts.
A few tricky entries, but the answer suddenly flashed in my mind while I was still completing the grid (which is rare for me) when the third themer came into view - which got confirmed when my review of the lyrics correctly predicted the last themer (27A).

Yep. We had the same Raffi tape and the same book..
Nice one, Jay! Rather challenging grid, and I'm embarrassed to admit that I needed the nudges.

BUS was going to be my guess before the nudges. I know that song but ONLY from Seinfeld. Fun puzzle and LOVED the cluing - like the cryptic a 21a. Thanks Jay!
Had to Google, because somehow, with my boys years ago, and now my grandsons, I never get past this: “The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round … ” — and that’s it!

I enjoyed the cryptic aspect in 21A clue! Liked 33A, too!
I thought I knew the answer, but checked the nudges before submitting. (Meta confidence down after this last WSJ contest).
Thanks for the puzzle!

Fun one!
Took me longer than it should have, but youngest is now 7 so maybe I purposely erased it from memory…
(Had a child UNfriendly typo which turned the SEC tigers into LSI ..)

I thought a little too hard and submitted SCHOOL BUS since that is the kind of bus children ride on and every book, cartoon, and toy playing this song that I have ever seen were school buses. PLUS two of my granddaughters are obsessed with them and can’t wait to start riding to school.

The wheels on all buses go round and round. And I was just on the 34th St. crosstown bus when the driver, in order to get a woman in a wheelchair onto the bus and locked into one of the places for wheelchairs, had to keep telling the other passengers to move on back. Anyway, check those books again. The one we had showed a city bus with its variety of passengers going up and down, not a school bus.
I tired to be fancy. I felt BUS initially, but the UP and DOWN, ROUND and ROUND led me to Carousel and I was taking transportation way too literally. Luckily it was not the "adult" version. Thanks Jay

Got to it late...no nudges needed...still took me longer to clue in than it should have. Thanks for a fun SSS meta!
