In Cantonese, maternal grandma is "paw paw" and maternal grandpa is "gung gung"... there are six other terms for grandma in the puzzle from around the world: "tutu" (Hawaiian), "yaya" (Greek), "nonna" (Italian), "babushka" (Russian), "nagymama" (Hungarian), "ugogo" (Zulu)... finding the six clues that mention these languages and reading off the first letters of the corresponding entries give us the meta answer "paw paw"

Fun fact: my grandma’s name is “Oi” which translates to “love”… quite befitting title 🥰

Very nice, thank you! BTW, the clue for SAI has "Greek" in it too.

What a sweet tribute. I will think of your grandmother when I go to the local Paw Paw Festival next month (to celebrate a disgusting fruit, not grandmothers.) I'm so glad that you are constructing metas, Philip! Always makes my day when I find one.

I looked up paw paw it’s a fruit!! I don’t think I’ve seen or tried it before - the wiki page calls it a “hipster banana” I’m curious what it tastes like now

Very nice tribute to your pawpaw. My Croatian mom has always been Baka to my daughters. Grandmas are the best

Hvala! My Croatian friend taught me that it rhymes with koala but then I forgot the v sound and kept saying koala with an h 😅

What a wonderful puzzle—and a touching way to honor your grandmother. This is my favorite of your puzzles (thus far).

Well I wanted to answer PO PO right off the bat simply because I knew that, but seeing 6 entries told me that would be wrong. I tried using the language first letter and got nowhere and then I saw the Hungarian and Russian reference and knew what final spin you had given it. Tough grid but I could get most with crosses and good guesses. Oh, and by the way Whiskey precedes not only XRAY YANKEE AND ZULU but also HANGOVER.😁
                Thanks Phil!
