I'm proud to share my first collaboration with @Cap'n Rick. Here's a little background on how it came to be:

I came up with a theme/ I thought it up quick/ But the grid was a mess/ So I called Cap'n Rick

DOH! I got sooo stuck on the common crossword ERE and EEN and EER that VERSE completely escaped me...until I punningly said to myself, "this is going from bad to verse!", to which my subconscious answered "of course it is you dolt!!!!" Some gymnastics for sure, along the way, but I'm certainly glad, I decided to play. Thanks fellas!!!
