Fun one, DrTom

Glad you enjoyed it - this was fun to make. We originally wanted GO DUTCH but that had an odd number of letters and would not work.

Good one! Thanks, Dr. Tom and Dr. (soon to be) Josh!

Great metanism! I have not heard this phrase, although I've heard GO HALVESIES and GO HABS! (I also did not have to google Phil E.)

Fun puzzle! Not too hard and clever construction. Got a chuckle from some of the clues!! Helped to pass the time while driving to Charleston to babysit the grands ( hubby driving, of course).

I had anticipated "Go Dutch" but then spotted the mechanism. Enjoyed this one, guys! Thanks.

Very nicely done! One note: "Guy who is not a keeper" is a great clue for GIVER but also could have been the clue for PIG.

Yep - I got hung up for a bit on that one as well!

Very fun - took me a while to figure out a few of the pairs. With BAR, initially I was stuck on EXAM and DENIAL, but I think the mechanism is actually finding the clue that each half of the birds could answer- and the clues for EXAM and DENIAL can't be answered by BAR- and not finding a synonym for half of the bird name. In some cases, it works both ways, but not all... once I figured that out, and focused on the clue part, I got it. Nice!

Interesting, the "Not a keeper" and PIG connection never crossed my mind. I saw, but discounted, the BAR/EXAM connection because the BAR EXAM is a specific exam, but in retrospect it was an entirely plausible answer. It would have been even worse had someone not given me the GRAPE - "Source of wine" suggestion. Originally I had GAUGE to tie it to a measure (like "raising the bar" or bars on your phone) but Bird Lives came to my rescue.
