Ghost (PfP #78c)

· By Conflux · Published 4 months ago

Constructor's Note: Testers found some of the clues I originally had for this puzzle too obscure/hard/specific to me. They're probably right, so I took them out, but I still like the clues! To solve the "director's cut," go to http://tinyurl.com/pfp-78c-crossword-dircut-o at your own risk..
There's a certain two-word phrase that I've been thinking a lot about from a wordplay perspective, and so eventually I had to make a puzzle with that as the seed. It's 11-Across. Two more things about the long entries: (1) "West Coast" is also the title of an Imagine Dragons song. It has the lyric "I'll be your West Coast, honey," and, like, it would literally make more sense in my opinion if it was "I'll be your guest host, honey." (2) It's not at all true, but I really really want "ghost" to have originally been a hybrid of the words "guest" and "host." Or a shortening of "guest host."
I make puzzles (of all different kinds, not just crosswords!) at http://tinyurl.com/puzzlesforprogress. Go check them out! I'm also gradually posting my entire crossword archive on Crosshare.

Both of them were very good clue sets - I agree on the director's cut clues being harder as they're similar to how I'd clue them, but I liked solving both versions :)
