Meta Prompt
The answer to the meta is a noun
I can't really say too much about this without giving the game away, so I won't. Enjoy! Answer and explanation: https://www.xword-muggles.com/viewtopic.php?t=1298&p=74071#p74071
Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here: https://www.ephesusscroll.com/about/interest4.html. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta!

Fun puzzle. A few red herrings in there. Or red roses.

LILY and ROSE (& if you want to get pedantic, because why the heck not, I'm getting pedantic, APPLE) are flowers too.
                • benchen71 constructor · 2021-11-16T21:14:23.539Z
Yes, but these ones weren't arranged. I had to make it slightly trickier by way of some misdirection. ROSELLE is also a flower, apparently.
                  • woozy 3s · 2021-11-17T00:23:44.920Z
I think they were meant to be legitimate and intentional red herrings. BUT I'm not sure such red herrings are actually legitimate. A good puzzle has a mechanism that unambiguously leads to the answer. It's not fair to say only some of them lead to the answer.
                    • benchen71 constructor · 2021-11-17T01:10:51.661Z
No, the mechanism in this case is a flower intersecting with an anagram of itself. The other flowers are there on purpose (well, I didn't intend ROSELLE). Usually, I don't add intentional red herrings to a puzzle, but I thought that it was appropriate for this one.
                      • woozy 3s · 2021-11-17T05:54:50.295Z
Yeah, I understand that. I'm just not certain whether it is fair to have flowers that DONT intersect their anagrams. It may not be seen as fair to say "you solve it by doing X but only for the ones where X work; ignore the ones where X doesn't work".
                        • benchen71 constructor · 2021-11-17T06:55:35.115Z
Fair enough. I recall at the time of puzzle creation that the top right and bottom left areas just looked empty. So I put some more flowers into those positions. But I understand that things look very different when you are looking at a completed grid wondering what to do now.
