Like some others, I have no idea what the mechanism is… just inferred the author from the wording of the clue to 75A (though I don’t know what the clue is referring to in the puzzle!). Huh?? What theme answers? Feeling dense… but glad to have Pandoras Blocks back!

You know, it was not until just now that I saw the Easter Egg in 75A - HEAT TELL TALE...good one Will. Surprised that you didn't warn people about some of the letters being stolen or maybe about being Grade A Beef (i.e. a Sirloin Letter)

This is a fantastic puzzle to lay the foundation for Season 4, Will! Love the revealer wink to EAP's famous tale. And maybe the first 18x14 dimensions I've seen in many years of solving. You keep building 'em bigger and better.

Got the correct answer thanks to the indirect reference to the Tell-Tale Heart in 75a, but I failed to see the progression in the themers, simply because I started with the AL in 25a's "BALANCE" and noticed that every other themer also had an AL in there (as does EDGAR ALLAN POE). In order to emphasize the buildup from A to ALLA, wouldn't it have been preferable to have avoided having both an A and an AL in 25a?

... and also avoid an AL in 1a's ZALES, which is symmetrically opposed to 75a's revealer, and therefore looks like it's part of the theme, as well?
