      left feels like more of a "spare" thing than "strike", so maybe a clue like "Only thing left to spare?" would be more fitting (though "strike" definitely allows for a more vague/punny clue)

        Thanks for solving. The "target" you want to aim for to get a strike is called the ONE PIN, so I think the clue makes sense as-written. I think the "one pin remaining" angle would make the answer a little too green-painty.

          You're absolutely right. For some reason I was thinking of the 1 pin as one of the two in the back (ie the 7 and 10 pins).

              Appreciate that! I contemplated shading or circling each side of the "gap" but I thought that might make it too obvious.
