Despite all my confusion, I figured it out (with help). Thanks, Chris

Needed those nudges! Very nice. Thanks

Clever puzzle! Took me a while to get the “mix” as in scramble to get a new word ! At first I had ATE —> TEA and matched it with “salad” ( leaves on a menu like tea leaves??) . Anyway, didn’t work but I could see what letters I needed. Thank you for a fun start to the week!

I went down that same rabbit hole! Quite a mechanism.

Needed the nudges, but I must say it was the most enjoyable meta that used parentheses. Great mechanism. Thanks!

Needed the nudges, and still took a bit longer as I got ‘mixed’ up with ELM… (elm beetle LARVA?) and TEA… (being diuretic maybe a good match for LOO…) Fun puzzle!
                          • Eric Porter 2:26 · 2023-05-10T21:40:06.328Z
Ha, I also thought that it was ELM. I saw online that a synonym was 'white', so I chose 'blanc', then realized my mistake once all 8 were written out and I had ENSEEBLE.

Had a bit of trouble following the directions, but finally got it right. Fun! Thanks, Chris!

Sheesh -- finally. Needed the nudges and even then was confused. Finally clicked for me as I was typing out a request for a further nudge -- as I typed what I had, I realized what I had to do. Very nice meta (once I saw it)!
                              • michaelm 🤓2:21 · 2023-05-09T15:40:03.442Z
Used the two Monday nudges. Mind-bending meta (scared of parentheticals). Tthe aha! when typing out the right answer in the Excel file was one of the best ever as I thought it was probably another dead end at the time! Thanks for that joy!
                                • KayW 🤓7:26 · 2023-05-09T21:25:40.146Z
Brilliant! Me, not so much. I needed the nudges.
                                  • DrTom 3s · 2023-05-10T02:57:01.742Z
Wow, this one was tough for me, mainly because I was looking so hard to rearrange the last part of the Y portion as well. It is not until a helpful muggle said "you got MEL, what do you immediately think of...and I remembered BLANC. The others did not go easily though because I was locked into a certain rearrangement of the ends for the X portion like SNAP -> NAPS, PANS, SNAP, SPAN and STAL -> SLAT, SALT, ALTS, LAST. I also did not think I could use END because it had already served as a "guide" clue. SO the NOSH and BLANC were easy but the other two, well.
Anyway, novel mechanism and interesting construction. Good job Chris, pour yourself an Eagle Rare!

Used every nudge I could get. Also a bit confused on the "matching" concept; I too had thoughts along the lines of tea, leaves, salad --- also was thinking ELM Street and RODEO Drive. :) Thank you, Chris!

Thanks, Chris! Challenging for me too. I used all of the nudges, but it was worth it in the end. Clever mechanism.
