This one's silly. There are many ways to put the answer in. If Crosshare says it isn't correct but you think it is, be patient. If I see a new acceptable way of phrasing I'll add it. (I've got thirteen already)

of course! a fun solve. And thanks a LOT! for rekindling that grade school earworm.
oh - I don't know if you can see answers submitted. I submitted "She's dead" (of course) and google didn't turn up other alternatives. What others have you found?
Oh, variants. I always heard it as "She died, of course". But wikipedia gave "she's dead, of course" as an alternative. So my first three answers were. "She died", "She dies", and "She's dead". Then I figured people might add "of course" so I made three more with "of course" at the end. Then I figure maybe I should be specific with replacing "She" with "the old lady". So that's 12 answers. Then thinking in terms of language usage and being straight forward I add simply "Death". And that brings it to an appropriate 13 answers.
So I always heard the song as "She died, of course" but google and wikipedia seems to claime "she's dead, of course". Which versions do you know? And does the song just stop there are does in go through all the iterations a final time?
By the way, My thirteen answer are:
Either "she" or "the old lady" and either "dies" or "died" or "'s dead" and either the "of course" is included or not. (That's 12 if you like combinatorics). And "death".

As I learned it (waaaaay back in grade school), the final verse was:
I know an old lady who swallowed a horse
She's dead, of course.
And each verse started "I know an old lady...". When I googled to see if I could find 13 variations, it looked like "There was an old lady..." was more popular.
I meant there were 13 answers to this meta depending on ways to put it.
I think I always did "I knew an old lady" most of the time but "there was" almost as often. They are all but indistinguishable to my ear. But I always did "she died, of course" and not "she's dead". Also we continued the horse onward as normal "she swallowed the horse to chase the cow,...." and we didn't do an abrupt cut off. (Always struck me as weird the finish with "perhaps/I think she'll die" when we just said she did.

I always heard "She died, of course" also, but I entered "She's dead" because that's what popped up in my Google results.
