Strange Attractors (Meta)

Meta Prompt
The answer to the meta is a noun
In mathematics, a strange attractor is the shape that can emerge out of a chaotic system over time. It means two points that are quite close together can become widely divergent given enough time. (This is also known as the butterfly effect, but that's enough maths for one day!) Will order emerge out of the chaos of this puzzle in the form of the meta answer (which in this case is a noun)? Only time will tell. Answer and explanation: https://www.xword-muggles.com/viewtopic.php?p=78557#p78557
Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here: https://www.ephesusscroll.com/about/interest4.html. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta!

Thought I'd be sunk when I saw the subject matter but came out if it nicely! Thanks for a puzzle that made me smile as I caught on, Ben!

I can’t believe I crossed the MOAT on Tuesday morning!

Like whimsy I cringed at the science. But didn't need it. Whew. And thanks.

Love learning something new when puzzling… even if it IS in the STEM sector. Maybe the new JWST will bring us some enlightenment on this matter! ( :

I hope so! That said, I sort of love the fact that science can't actually see 85% of the universe and has to deduce its existence in other ways. :-)

Crossed the MOAT! Thanks for the puzzle Ben.

I see IRON surrounding black squares, and iron is magnetic and black is dark. Guessing there's more to it :-) ?

I share Rick's hesitation, if only because of that long scientific prompt, which ended up being mere misdirection (cool as it may be). Had the prompt simply said that we were looking for a noun, the meta would actually have been easier!
                    • benchen71 constructor · 2022-01-08T00:58:46.691Z
But the meta prompt is exactly that: "The answer to the meta is a noun". Are you talking about the blogpost? I usually write a short intro that includes the meta prompt.

Also, there was a band called Iron Butterfly, so it ties into the butterfly effect mentioned in the flavortext.

loved it! i have no idea why it took me 2 seconds to notice one of the letter circles, then 2 minutes to notice another one, then another dozen minutes to realise there's 4 of them XD good job on this one! <3

I can see how that works well with the "dark" theme. But left to right from top to bottom is the tradition!
