The answer to the meta is a musical artist phonetically suggested by what you have to do four times to complete the grid
I was fortunate enough to have heard the announcement "Mind the gap" with my own ears. However, that experience didn't inspire this meta, so if you haven't been as lucky you won't be disadvantaged in any way. The answer to the meta is a musical artist phonetically suggested by what you have to do four times to complete the grid. Best of luck! Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here: https://www.ephesusscroll.com/about/interest4.html. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta!

Rt, and it's odd given that they seemingly don't have to cache these comments. Nice puzzle BTW!

Nice one! I had the syllable right, but was trying to make ELLEN (L in...) something. There's an Ellen Whyte, which sounds like "L in white" but that's really a stretch.

Very smooth grid, Ben.

Nice one, Ben. Actually solved it on Tuesday morning.
Reminds me of the E puzzle from a few weeks ago. I got really tripped up in this one, and had to reveal what I thought were supposed to be empty squares. Can you even have empty squares in Crosshare? But I digress.
Thanks for the puzzle.

Fun and clever meta, thanks!

Fun! Thanks especially for 62A, I think that Sir Terry should get more play in crosswords :-)
So far, no one has commented on the hint in 75 across and the significance of the locations of the gaps! ;-)

Wow! Just went back to look! Very clever, Ben! The grid numbers where the “L”s are album titles ( and Adele’s ages). THAT fits with the title! I was trying to figure the significance of “the Gaps” / positions of the Al’s! Brilliant construction!!

Loved it! Word play is my favorite; now the first time I put the wrong answer but since all the theme words were connected by an L, who could blame me for L TO JOIN (Elton John)
Glad someone commented about the album numbers/names… had totally forgotten that factoid about her albums. (Obviously not much of a follower, though I enjoy her music when I hear it.) Clever puzzle even without the number thing.

Nice! My first guess was Pharrell - as in Pharrell Williams... which sounds a lot like 4-L, for the 4 empty gaps that can be filled with L. Not as good as Add-L, though!

Very nice. Was in left field for awhile, but finally saw the light. Tried to go with various Phils for fill in....

Had the solution almost immediately, but couldn't get the syllables to sound right until today.
