- Fun idea! What are the four other video games? I see RuneScape but I confess this is a subject area I know almost nothing about. PS - 14D should probably begin with "With 18A, ..."
- The themers are placed symmetrically: BIOS HOCK (Bioshock), RUN ESCAPE (RuneScape), BOMBER MAN (Bomberman), and CANA BALT (Canabalt, which I didn't know about until I was today years old).
- SM's got it! Canabalt popularised the endless runner genre, and is even part of the permanent collection of video games at the Museum of Modern Art. PS - fixed, thanks!
- Had to read the comments to get the aha, but now that I see it... well played!
- My lack of video game knowledge strikes again. I loved the Tolkien Tree clue -- is that a known piece of lore or your invention?
- Thanks! Im not sure - I'm also always on the lookout for opportunities to clue things in this way, eg: lore would be "cultural or ethnic traditions". I'm going to say I read it somewhere else just in case :)
- Very fun take on the theme, and well-executed, too! I got the revealer early, but didn't actually figure out where the theme answers themselves were until I'd finished; they were integrated into the grid very smoothly. Who can forget those classic video games like ROCANOMIA and ROMPRAMBLE?
Favorite non-theme clues were the mirroring of 4D and 35A, and it's always fun to get a few bonus space-themed entries with 30A and 34A! - nice! managed to pack lots of theme material in there!
