I see that it is a word ladder from HOLD, HOLE, DOLE, DOTE, and NOTE but I don't see anything else. (Although the grid and entries are exceedingly clean and neat; I'm quite jealous.)

I had to use reveal since I knew I wouldn't know the show, but your observation of the word chain, woozy, helped me to understand -- HOLD = a CLAIM on something; person of NOTE is FAMEd. Goes from one TO the other. Takes a village! :)
