      That clue was just mean. "-ive" works as a suffix (or out) with "pass" to create "passive." Could have also clued it as "Act out?" or "Miss out?" Both would have been equally as devilish, imo

          I appreciate the explanation. I wasn't sure about 1D, either. I was thinking maybe it's referring to the -ISM suffix that appears in names of religions, etc., but I don't feel very confident since the clue seems to indicate a noun rather than a suffix.

        Haha this is great! For the longest time, I was like, "a puzzle about MIT??" Fun set up in the end though. And I loved the out there clues like for TACOBAR and ANN!

                    I think this puzzle is an interesting example of how difficulty is a very individual thing. I almost never successfully solve a puzzle with a difficulty of 1600 or higher, but I was able to solve this one. I think it made a huge difference to be familiar with the term AMIIBO.
                    Anyway, this was a lot of fun. Thank you!
