I'm a new setter, so I can't promise I've accomplished my goal; but this crossword is intended to be on the easier side. Some of the longer phrases are a bit novel, but that'll just mean you need to interact with the wordplay to get the answer. I hope it's enjoyable!

Thanks for giving this a go!
If you have any feedback/criticism, feel free to write it below—it's the best way for me to learn how to make these better in future.
Thanks! These clues all came from a 'primer' I tried writing, where each of the main types of clues was described & the clues were colour-coded to fodder/wordplay/definitions. It was also my (first and mostly unsuccessful according to stats) attempt at writing an easier grid.
I’m hoping to add an article like what you’re describing to the homepage. Kind of an “intro to cryptics”. If you’d have any interest in contributing to it that’d be awesome - shoot me a msg mike@crosshare.org

I "checked" after every word, but I think this is the first cryptic I've made it through without "revealing," so definitely approachable!
I hope it was also an enjoyable thing for you to do :)

This was really excellent! First thing that popped up when googling approachable cryptic crossword. I've done a few before in puzzle books and watched a few videos online about how to solve them...so armed with that level of background, this was perfect for a solve in 20mins, and 90% of the answers I could fully understand each clue - great stuff
Welcome to the community, and thank you for the kind words :)
There are many better setters than me who've also tried to tackle introductory cryptics - one of my favourite recommendations are the Cryptic 101 series published here joeadultman.blogspot.com.
There's also a very welcoming community of Cryptic Crossword streamers on Twitch, I'm confident most of the streamers would be happy to answer any questions or help recommend appropriately pitched grids too.
