The Great Flood of Boston

· By Hannah Bee · Published 2022-03-29T03:16:18.777Z

Constructor's Note
This mini's theme is a nod to one of my favorite historical events: a flood in Boston, Mass. that took place in 1919 (the best detail of which I elude to in the circles on the grid). This theme was inspired by this past Sunday's NYT crossword puzzle (3/27/22) which also featured a historical theme, The Great Pyramids of Giza. I would highly recommend you check it out, it is way cooler than this little ode I just whipped together. As always, would love any feedback and happy solving!

So good! And yeah that is a crazy event to imagine

This was a fun mini and I really enjoyed the theme! Definitely a weird event in the annals of history. For feedback, this is really nitpicky but next time for 6A you might want to consider clueing based on the dictionary definition of ABASE as extra leading A/THEs are often avoided unless part of a specific idiom or phrase.

Clever puzzle; gotta take issue with “ESTER”. Put an H in there and you’ve got something.
