Ewe will have to excuse the puns, but meta puzzles come in all sheeps and sizes. If I can ram the point home, this one is definitely on the herd side! But if you keep at it ewe will find the answer to the meta, which is a computer-animated short film. Happy new shear, everyone! Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here: https://www.ephesusscroll.com/about/interest4.html. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta!

Now to backsolve!
rjy 11s · hace más de 2 años
Same… my love of Pixar had me try Boundin first, then Purl. But why? There are P, U, R, L kind of adjacent to the asterisked entries, but I couldn’t construct some sort of circle or oval that contained them, particularly starting from within the entries. At a loss for backsolving this…
Pm me on the forum if you want a nudge. I don’t want to put the 4 things here because I think a lot of people will get the meta answer without seeing them and I don’t want to spoil anything.
Meg 2s · hace más de 2 años
I found them all! Thanks to a helpful Muggle.
Jaclyn 7:05 · hace más de 2 años
I also got the answer without knowing why. I did that with the MMM this week, too. Not sure what to make of that!
Darth 21:25 · hace más de 2 años
I got the answer via the metanism, but needed Google to confirm as a movie title. Thanks, Ben.
Joe 9:51 · hace más de 2 años
Same as Darth, I needed to Google once I got to the answer. My fault and not the puzzle's, certainly. But I'm a film nerd! Can't wait to watch it now.
Okay...... so if we take the letters after the last letters in JIMBO and MENS, and the letters before the last letters in KEBS and JLO and we get P,U,R,L but... that can't be it.....
Those are the meta answer letters. But there is a way to highlight them so there is no doubt whatsoever!

Like some here, I have the answer, and I see the P-U-R-L more or less contained, but I don’t yet understand the metanism. Meg, you may be hearing from me via PM. In the meantime, my wife — a knitter, not a puzzler — is taking a look.
Very intricately woven together, Ben!
Got the mechanism, then enough of the answer to infer, and confirm on google. Finally found how to get the last letter; had been aiming for the wrong L!

Wanted to put "stitch and bitch" in 40A; that's what I've always heard them called :)
Took a bit to parse that central clue. First thing I tried didn't work. (Looks like we're not posting spoilers here for the folks who guess the movie and then figure out the mechanism?) But once I got one I was sure of, the rest were easy enough to find.
The first time I filled in the grid and just went with the sheepy Pixar film I saw BOUNDIN. When that was not right I went back tp try to do it right, and this time I succeeded; guess I should not have been such a knit wit.
Barbara K turned me on to this puzzle as knitting is one of our mutual hobbies (along with, of course, meta puzzles). The movie looks terrific. Thanks, Ben!
Oh my gosh, Ben! That is so sweet of you! Today I came across the lengthy customs form for shipping the prize and I had the satisfaction of tossing it out, knowing the gift had safely reached its destination.

The metanism was hard to spot. Thanks for the nudges, Ben.
Cindy Heisler 2s · hace más de 2 años
40A was helpful, but it still took me a while to find the letters. It wasn't until I Googled some short films that I saw it. Clever puzzle! Thanks.
Tyrpmom 10s · hace más de 2 años
So hidden! Even knowing exactly what to do they are hard to find.
Ergcat 19:15 · hace más de 2 años
Finally got it with the nudges. I hadn’t been looking for knitted items in the knitting circles. Very clever construction!
KayW 9:56 · hace más de 2 años
Got it with the nudges. And of course had to watch the film once I found it. Thanks Ben!
Carolyn 3s · hace más de 2 años
Thanks! Definitely needed the nudges.
Laura M 🤓27:14 · hace más de 2 años
Needed the nudges, I am very bad at this sort of meta. Cute little animated movie, I hadn't heard of it before!
Bbaack 14:18 · hace más de 2 años
Late to the party, but was nudged home. Thanks Ben, and Happy New Year!
Qmark 3s · hace más de 2 años
Thanks Ben! That's one I haven't seen...but I plan to check it out online today.
