Meta Prompt
The answer to the meta is an eight-letter word
I'm always impressed by metas that incorporate an additional dimensions and try to integrate external concept. So I thought I'd try this. Didn't really know what I was going to do and ... boy, was it difficult to execute. But it all came together in the end.
I'm not going to pretend this isn't difficult and convoluted. But I really think (hope) I included enough prompts and clues to make it feasible.
Anyway, however easy or hard or enjoyable or frustrating it might be to work, I do think it is original and creative. Good luck.
You may need to google. (By the way if anyone knows of a video of Bach performed on a gamelan please let me know.)
This page (especially this section) may be useful.

    They answer is CANDENCES.
The grid represents the score of a three voice fugue. The left most column indicates the Treble and bass clefs and the second column indicates the notes that each row of the grid represents. The far right column indicate the range of the three voices: Soprano, Alto, Bass and the second to last column repeat the indication of the notes.
The three phrases of the fugue are: the subject which consists of the notes FEEDBAGFDA; The answer which consists of the notes ABBAFEDCAB (with the exception of the leading A, these are the same notes of the subject shift up a fifth); and the counter subject which consists of the notes EGGACFAD (these are a play on the subject with notes in the counter-subject ascending where they descended in the subject and vice versa.
The Alto introduces the subject in the rows in its range starting with the F-row at the circle square 61. The next two E notes are in the E-row in the next two columns. The letters in the grid for the notes FEEDBAGFDA spell out CALIFORNIA.
The Soprano then voices the answer in the rows in the upper range for ABBAFEDCAB. Starting at the circled square the letters in the grid spell DELAWARENO.
The next part fugue is the Alto voicing the counter-subject EGGACFAD starting and the circled square. In the grid these squares spell RTHCAROL.
The next part is the Bass repeating the subject FEEDBAGFDA. Starting at the circled square the letters in the grid spell out INAESTONIA.
So we have four states (not necessarily United States) California, Delaware, North Carolina, Estonia. The two letter codes for those are CA, DE,NC,ES which spell CADENCES

Cool puzzle, woozy! I'm sure you didn't expect this to be possible, but shockingly enough, I think knowing TOO much about this subject kept me stumped for a while. You should see the scribblings I made in my staff pad notebook, trying to make sense of the rhythm or figure out exactly how the countersubject lined up with the other voices... It took me way too long to realize there's no way you'd expect solvers to do all that and actually look back at the rest of the grid (and those pesky circles!) Plus I really couldn't let go of "Feed Bag" in the clue for OAT needing to mean something. Anyways, suffice it to say I've been having fun nerding out with your music themed metas lately!

Thank you so much for playing. I was worried after the first 48 hours that I had created something completely unsolvable.

I'm so glad you liked it. I nearly knocked myself unconscious when I had done constructing.
