Yay, whee! Solving the second one is twice as nice! (And I did see the weirdness of the first one, but let it slide.) For the record, I have a lazy eye and I find it a boon rather than a bane for solving Magic Eye. Actually I'm not sure whether it qualifies as a lazy eye -- I can hold either eye steady forward while shifting the other one outward. My party trick is to alternate which one is looking forward, like <.o o.> <.o o.> etc.
Never can see magic eye images. Don't quite know what AMBIVALENT ELMS means either... are these something you can see in the magic eye image of this meta?
It's AMBIVALENT ELMS because to see the image you must cross eyes so you can no longer see which tree is which or even whether they are trees of flying birds.

Very clever! And I haven't thought about Magic Eye pictures for years, but turns out I can still see them... possibly easier now that my older eyes aren't as good at focusing :-)
