Meta Prompt
The meta answer is a well-known Muggle constructor suggested by nine grid answers.
It's Monday, April 1, and in this puzzle we're celebrating the birthday of a well-known Muggle constructor who, even though he's been with us for only a year, has made quite an impression on us all. And how better to celebrate his birthday than by solving a meta puzzle? Shout-outs to the always-generous AJK for test-solving, our MMM Maestro Peter Abide, and Joe Ross for his formidable formatting skills. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I did creating it.

Only one of the three "birthday boys" has seen this puzzle so I'm eager to get a reaction from the other two!

Did you notice that the surnames of the Tripe Triumvirate are hidden in the clues about their hometowns?
          • woozy 🤓9:48 · 2024-04-01T15:15:52.124Z
Wouldn't that make it 10 grid entries then? but I don't see the one about Utica. And no I totally missed those.
I thought but wasn't really certaing that maybe ANI = An "E" was one of the entries but I guess not. Got 7 of them.

I hadn’t! I did wonder if Susie, Ken, and Ned were Rick’s kids or something:)

Nope, no kids here. "Ken Kennedy" does sound like a fun name, though. He's probably be a whiz at math puzzles! 😄

Just as fun the second time! Took me several beats to find the hidden name in 39A, even though I knew it was there. 😆 Love the header image. Thanks.

Do we know what the E stands for? Or is it like Harry S Truman? Someone needs to research and write the life of Mr. Tripe. Or make a biopic. Who needs “Oppenheimer”?

Gahhhh — that took me forever to remember the user name! I knew all the culprits, and see names in the clues, but I had to browse through old Monday puzzle posts to find one this constructor did (I remembered it was a few months back!). I’m sure I’m missing some of the genius fun of this one, but it was still very enjoyable! Thanks.

I had to search the site for "Purdy Spackle" to help me recall the constructor's name. Funny the things you do and don't remember...

i had to go back one year to see the anniversary puzzle to get the joke but once i got it, i appreciate this puzzle a lot!! i knew cap'n rick was from nahant based on his crosshare bio and i found kennedy in the clue rather quickly after wondering who on earth "susie, ken, and ned" were and if there was some pop culture reference i was missing... this led me to find abide and sisti in the other two cities but after that, the meta is pretty much unsolvable for anyone who is new-ish to the muggles forum... happy bday mr. tripe!

As soon as I saw Perry and Jimmy I knew Clark was missing, and when I saw Nahant then Utica then Biloxi I knew it could not be all three and the clincher were the organ meats with Tripe missing (and of course the title anagram) so only one daunting solver remined for 4/1. EXCELLENT job Wendy and I especially like the hidden names (which I will openly admit I did NOT see until you mentioned it. By the way, with that much organ meat it would have been an offaly good idea to include LIPITOR in the grid.😂
