Love the title! I had two missing letters, but I found OL?VE? TWIST, so enough to solve it. ;) Will look closer to see if I can find the missing ones. Maybe Rintels (Jonathan Rintels)? I found Irving, but can't find another "I"-author. Thanks, Lars.

Yeah, the other "I" is more well known as a playwright than a book author. The "R" doesn't fit the pattern of the rest of them as it doesn't start this person's last name. I wasn't happy about that but went with it anyway. 😒 The solution is below if you get too frustrated.

Reveal: The title “Uh Sorta Mixed Up” anagrams to Authors Mixed Up. There are 11 “mixed up” authors in the grid: 1A SILENTR anagrams to RLSTINE, 8A VIRGIN = IRVING, 19A WIELD = WILDE, 21A LIETO = ELIOT, 24A LIKENTO = TOLKIEN, 35A SOONCEI = IONESCO, 42A HELLYES = SHELLEY, 49A NEVER = VERNE, 52A WILES = LEWIS, 62A WEROLL = ORWELL, 63A LOSTTOY = TOLSTOY.The first letters of the unmixed authors anagram to Oliver Twist which was written by Dickens

Phew. I stared at RIWETSVLOT for most of the day. I had an inkling that SO ONCE I would be something, but I couldn’t get anything from that. It took forever for me to abandon finding an author in my mixed up letters; I finally saw OLIVER TWST in there and figured I’d missed the I. Man. This was a good one.
Most frustrating was that the first 7 authors/letters that I found were actually TS ELIOT. I was like… NFW did I get this a totally legit way, but it’s not right? WTF!

Thanks Kurt! I actually got the idea from seeing TS ELIOT in another puzzle and realizing that it anagrammed to TOILETS. Didn't wind up using it though.
