My name is Ben Chenoweth, and I'm currently a teacher at Donvale Christian College, in Melbourne, Australia. I've worked overseas with Wycliffe Bible Translators, and in Australia as a secondary and tertiary teacher. (I was the Educational Designer / eLearning Coordinator at Melbourne School of Theology for four years, and taught at Eastern College for some of that time.)
My main interests are music, writing, theology and various combinations of those. I have a number of other interests, including reading, crosswords (especially cryptics and metas), and computer games. I also enjoy programming. My About Me website (https://www.ephesusscroll.com/about) was put together as an HTML/CSS demonstration for my Year 10 Computing class. Another interesting programming project is my EPUB Metadata Editor (an open-source project on GitHub).
I had this meta idea in my notes for a while now, so I don't recall what the seed was. It was a stretch to get all of the required pieces into the grid, but then I went and made it into a pangram! I hope I haven't made the grid too difficult as a…
I can't really say too much about this one without spoiling it, so I won't. The answer to the meta is what you can hear hiding in the puzzle. Answer & explanation (and nyan cat gif): https://xword-muggles.com/viewtopic.php?p=153689#p153689
Why are we so obsessed with being first? I guess it comes from our innate selfishness, something the writers of the New Testament were at pains to counter. As Paul says in Phil 2:3-4, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in…
Merry Christmas for yesterday! With this "week 4" puzzle we have reached the end of 2023 as far as MOATs are concerned. I trust you have enjoyed these weekly puzzles of mine. I know I have greatly enjoyed, not just the intellectual challenge of…
I know I had fun constructing this puzzle: the big question is will you have as much fun as me completing the grid and solving the meta? I sure hope so! Answer & explanation: https://xword-muggles.com/viewtopic.php?p=151591#p151591
I have absolutely no idea where this one came from! I just found myself thinking along certain lines and before I knew it, there it was. This one might be a bit tricky, but hopefully you will get there in the end. The answer to the meta is an 11…
This puzzle is a milestone of sorts. See if you can work out what it is! The answer to the meta is an appropriate book of the Bible (but with "Rome" in the puzzle title, let me assure you that it isn't "Romans"!) Answer & explanation: https://xword…
The seed for this puzzle was the title, which actually came to me one morning as I was waking up. I guess you could call it the detritus of a dream! It took quite a while to work out how that could be made into a meta; it took even longer to make it…
Successful solvers should be able to work out what the seed entry was for this puzzle. Actually, you might be able to work that out even if you don't solve the meta, the answer to which is something you might see on a laden table at this time of year…
