    And now I need to know who "Hilda", "Zelda", and "Sabrina" are. There is a Zelda game with a "parallel world" princess named Hilda, but it's definitely not that.
    TIL about HARPSEALS and that the "harp" part refers to a black area on their back which is kinda harp-shaped. But now I have this mental image of seals playing the harp.
    PETALHEAD... yeah, pretty sure it stems from your imagination. It was gettable with the clue/crosses to me, I liked it a lot.

      Sabrina is from the TV show Sabrina the Teenage Witch. She lives with her AUNT Zelda and AUNT Hilda. I always wanted to watch the show more than I did, but my mom wouldn't let me because it was about 馃挮wiTChcRaFt馃挮 gasp.

          I really liked your voice throughout the cluing (stuff like "wow ok are you trying to tell us something??" and "look if I'm late don't worry about it"); elevates that fill. I also think you found commendable ways to handle trope-y crossword conventions like the fill-in-the-blank, which was playful at 16A, or the partial, which was neatly clued by 29A (though you may have missed a vegan cross-reference opportunity at 22A). Those long 9s were nice (10D, ha!), and I appreciated the compromise on 31A for referencing art we like from an artist we might not.
