        You've really PROVIDED a clean implementation of a SUPER IDEA! I'm not a fan of hybrid grids, but it does make the fill smoother.

          Thanks. I was struggling to make a grid that fit all four 8-letter answers in a way that didn't require too much crosswordese nonsense. If I could do it again I would only use the "thin walls" and try to have some longer entries.
