      L is for LEARNER (people who are learning to drive have to display L plates - plates with the letter L on them - to alert other drivers to the fact that they're still learning)

        I didn't know that Lecturer is DON in the UK but makes sense. But why is Queen Elizabeth = ER?

          Elizabeth Regina. So King Charles would be CR. For Charles Rex Rex = King Regina is Queen. Both R after first initial. So king George = GR and so on
