    Thanks! I was worried that the puzzle would be too difficult, especially for people with a healthy and non-obsessive relationship with politics. Was really happy with that clue though.

  Nice! I had to use a helper on the crossing of OCALA1DCity where 1A and 2D once got 47.58% (yes, I did the math)[-----] (not heard of it) and ADAGE7A"We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office," famously[-----] (had AESOP), but once I figured out my error it all fell nicely into place.
