  Here's my wash-up:

  ACROSS. 1A. Edges of "geezer" = GR + tuber's = I'M. 4A. Roughly (approximately) = C + unpleasant = RUDE. 5A. Containment of ring = O in immediately = STAT. 6A. Homophone of "that gentleman's willing" = HE'LL.

  DOWN. 1D. Traitor = RAT in Georgia = GE (country code). 2D. Gore = AL, put after "Biden"'s core = IDE. 3D. tuber = ME, put 'first' before Lieutenant = LT. 4D. First letters (up front) from "controversial actress" + hush = SH.

    Yee, that's the intention. "About" is quite frequently used to clue 'C' this way.
