      thanks for the puzzle! i agree--the black square placement made the fill a bit rough. 8 (!!) intersecting spanners is really tough to do, especially with two of them being seed entries. ABTHROW made me laugh with how the clue was worded, and RPE also gave of ettu etui vibes haha
