    My wash-up for the mystified:
    1A. Double def. 5A. the opposite of an outlaw... 7A. twelve-month = YEAR + "new" start = N.
    1D. insertion of one = I into anag. TYPE. 2D. first to "unholster" = U + "weapon" finally = N + draw = TIE. 3D 6A. origami critter = PAPER TIGER. 4D. remove last letter from blade = SWOR(d) + knight = N.
