I think this is mislabeled as a cryptic? As a crossword, I think 5D/6A is subpar fill, and I would've made 7A ATLAS (reworking 2D). I also think having LONGS at 3D and in the surface of 5A [Long] is too noticeable in a mini. Interesting cross reference in 5A, BTW; not sure I dig it, but I think it's a cool idea.
It may have suggested cryptic because of your grid shape having a 1 letter across. In short, cryptics are a different version of crossword that are half-checked in the grid and where every clue has both a straight crossword clue and a cryptic clue that gives you the same answer through wordplay. If you check out some other puzzles with that tag, you'll soon see what I mean (but they have a steep learning curve).
