Love it. The hardest part is keeping track of which letters have been used in each row/column- it's easy when it's numbers, it's much harder when it's 9 random letters.
Exactly! I am not a frequent sudoku solver any more, but my experience was that the first half of the solve was smooth and interesting, and the second half was tedious and I finally did a check and saw one erroneous square that I had missed with my own eye. The rest of the solve entailed kind of laboriously going through ADEGILONT for each unfinished row, column, and block. Interesting idea though!
Holy carp. That was great! High difficulty, but doable without guessing. Had to use rebus feature to track pairs and triples.
If you were aiming for a quicker puzzle, you could do more clues. Even really hard clues like "a girls name" for IDA for "certificate" for GED would be super helpful when you know you only have 9 letters to narrow it down.

Normally I find 9x9 Sudoku tedious and I'm sure if I was doing a puzzle like this everyday, it would follow suit, but I love how fresh and novel this is and how frequently you're able to find effective cluing! Well done!
I loved this! I admit I guessed on 9D, but apart from that, it was a very smooth solve. I would've liked to see a puzzle without duplicate clues, but still impressive nonetheless!
