  The picture above is taken from Arches National Park in east-central Utah, looking south over the Colorado River. Edward Abbey worked as a ranger at Arches in the late 1950s. He wrote most of his book Desert Solitaire while working at Arches. My wife and I were married in 2004 at the location where his house trailer was located when he was a ranger. He's my favorite author.
