This is Phonetic Theme Week apparently. And the Universal puzzle yesterday was also about reading letters aloud. Spoilers below in case you want to solve it for yourself:
You get clues like [_low_fish's _ari_e hom _ ] which is missing the letters CNMNE in order, and the string of letters read aloud sounds like SEA ANEMONE which is the answer.
I'm not sure the clue for 11 Across is equivalent to BEAUTYSHOP. I guess you could say "I'm going to the butcher's," but that's not how it was written.
Huh. Turns out that "butchers" is an alternative to "butcher's" and one that I've never really thought about with my Australian dialect! I've updated the clue to the singular to avoid any further confusion - thanks for pointing it out
