Shameless #2 - What's Up, Wednesday

· By Mateo Cruzas · Published 2022-01-19T17:13:37.236Z

More fun with auto-fill, never seen 21-D before. Sure most will not get 3-D off the bat, but it's a sound answer. Should it have a question mark? No, it's not wordplay.
Enjoy the puzzle. And for an interesting read....
Not sure if links work here but it's about Willie's Taco Bell ad...which should also be watched. Great history
Thanks for solving

I got stuck on 1-A and just filled in what I thought it might be but I'm not sure I entirely get the clue?

Ditto sheets were a staple of education in the 90s.... I always thought it was a weird word. It just means like a one piece worksheet homework page. Apparently it is not a term that was as well known as I remember it. But it's a thing.

Huh, TIL. I was in primary school in the 90s but never heard of it. Thanks for the explainer!

Maybe it's regional like an accent?

Huh, I did a bit of digging and it appears to specifically refer to sheets produced by a specific type of duplication machine. Seeing what the results generally look like, I don't recall having seen anything similar in my school days. I also worked in education for almost 10 years and definitely didn't see anything like them. But maybe it also became a generalized term to refer to any rote-style worksheets?
At any rate, it's fun when a crossword prompt leads to a bit of new learning, so that was interesting!

I agree. When I had to clue the word DITTO that memory just came back to me,I fememberedmyteachers call g worksheets 'Diego's and it just was never explained. Sounded like slang and yes it was as much in class worksheets if not more. Diego's were at school not homework
