  Loved 4A, but yeah, I was stuck on 2D. Surface and definition are delightful, but if the wordplay is intended as bit of genius = GE, that seems a bit arbitrary. Saying something like Child gifted with 33% genius gets an above average score (5) is clunkier, but is more what I was looking for, especially in a grid with that's more than 50% unchecked.
