  Very fun solve but I filled in ELBOW by getting a few across answers in first. Could someone explain how an elbow is a coughing joint? Is it because you bring your hand up to your mouth when you cough? That just appeared in my head.

    You're supposed to cough into your elbow to avoid spreading germs--not bring your hand up to your mouth!

    Too funny! My mom was a nurse, her brother was a pediatrician, and I was a paramedic for about 10 years, and coughing into my elbow just never occurs to me. Thanks for the answer though!

  Once had a family member bit by an 1A, and it has permanently stuck in my head since. Nice puzzle, 1D in particular is a great clue.
