TIL the number of butters in that tale. Didn't remember that there were (n) of them.

This probably dates me, but I remember this story being in a collection of fairy tales when I was a kid. No doubt a 1st edition. 😉

Fun puzzle, not super familiar with the fairy tale though - other than the name.

It’s told in different ways, but each one involves the younger ones offering up the oldest one to save their own hides. Then, all of a sudden, it’s everyone lives happily forever after. If I were the oldest, I’d have some lifelong resentment to deal with. Thanks for solving.

Fun! That fairy tale is the one with the best opportunities for using different funny voices while reading/telling aloud.

Thanks. I love doing that when reading to my grandkids.

Never heard this one as a kid. I did watch OUTER limits though. Fun times! Fun puzzle!

Thanks. I decided to use that clue to help solvers see the pun in the title.
