April 28 is Election Day in Canada, after which a new government will be formed to lead the country’s 45th Parliament. The parties typically seen as most competitive are, in alphabetical order, the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC), the Liberal Party of Canada (LPC), and the New Democratic Party (NDP); any could get elected directly into a majority government, in which they control more than half of the seats in the House of Commons, or they could receive only a minority of seats and have to rely on other parties.
