Constructor's Note
Above all, don't take this mini too seriously. I asked an AI Writer for "creative definitions and crossword clues" for these words, and this was the result. Some clues will make sense, and others.... not so much. It was primarily intended as an experiment. Hope you guys get some joy out of it! (Oh, the AI also picked the cover pic. Their suggestion was: "An example of a fruit".)

    Nice

DONE! …somehow. What kind of input did you give the AI, just the entries to clue? I assumed you also gave it the start of the clues, and my strategy worked for some of them, like VOID (“something that is not filled”)

I used an AI program that we also use at work to help create blog articles or content for websites. I gave the program a title of some sort (e.g., "This crossword clue for 'Cafe' is my absolute favorite" or "How do you define the word 'Void' in a crossword puzzle?"), along with a style (informative and descriptive) and finally set a level of creativity (aka: how crazy is the AI allowed to go). The clues in this mini are all results that the AI had generated in the first or second attempt. If they were modified, it was to shorten them, or to get correct conjugations.
If the first version created was not used, it was always because the text the AI had formed had become just a little too creative. For example, the first version for "Aisle" was actually "In the case of cannabis, this could mean different strains of marijuana that have similar effects on consumers. Most stores that sell cannabis have at least three, and some have more than ten!"

Frankly I'm relieved that it's not better at it. Thanks for the fun!

I honestly also thought it would be a lot better at it. When I set the values for creativity to zero, I did get good clues, but at the same time they were dry dictionary definitions. And as soon as I adjusted the values, even to the lowest level of creativity, things went nuts. So indeed, I think we'll be safe for a while.

Fantastic idea for a puzzle, I love what the AI came up with. Human-speaking enough to be legible, but not to be human.

            Heh nice!

Do I have to be nice in a comment to an AI? ;)
I think I'll stick to human-written puzzles for now, but this was a fun experiment! Good idea! It almost turned out like one of those "put English into Google translate, convert to other language, then translate result back into English" things.

Thanks! Just out of curiosity, I had the AI write a reply to your comment.
"I chose to respond to your comment by explaining why I believe adverbs are sometimes necessary. I think the use of adverbs can add emphasis to a sentence, and can help to convey the phrase’s meaning. Additionally, I think it can help to make a phrase more vivid. When I read your comment, I understood what you were trying to say, and I was able to respond accurately because of that. Thanks again for your feedback."

😂 Thank you, AI! I will endeavor to use more adverbs as well.

I think us crossword-makers are safe for now. Great idea!

It’s true - the first step is, often, biting.
Did you use GPT-3, or a derivative, like Sudowrite?
                    • Didderd constructor · 2022-07-29T13:33:30.170Z
For this one, I've used GPT-3. I might experiment with some alternatives later, though!

                      Alrighty then.

I remember my time at university well, haha. And these clues aren't that much longer than some of mine. 🤣

                              That was surprisingly solvable.

As a business, it has a lot of competition due to the high demand of coffee and their ease of access. Maybe you'll find yourself here writing a letter home to your family.
