  I wasn't expecting the stacked hidden clues at 5A and 6A—ultimately happy for them, as I had no clue about those definitions. That said, those were I think my least favorite surfaces, mainly because they weren't of a piece: camels and computer viruses seem very distinct. (That said, I looked for *mel words and I can see your dilemma!)

  Speaking of surfaces that sing: 1A, 2D, and 3D (NSFW my "ass") were all terrific, and 7A, 1D, and 4D were nice and evocative. As always, a pleasure to solve your work!

    Yeah I didn't realize I had consecutive Hiddens until it was too late (like, literally past midnight last night). I thought about having just "virus" for 5A, but decided it was too unfair for people who didn't know/remember the 90s computer virus. I also toyed with (many many) other wordplay angles, but the Camel one was still the most evocative surface & most elegant to solve. Plus the absurdity of the surface made me smile (again, it was well after midnight)
