Lovely clues throughout! "tin and bronze" and "pointless figure" were highlights for me. The first cryptic clue I was ever told was "Lean toothless builder whatchamacallit (12)" for a alternative spelling of 9A - I was amazed as an 8-year-old

What's the other spelling? I get the THIN and BOB parts from the clue. Also, quite the coincidence there with BOB the Builder in my clue for NABOB.
