Nice :) Actually something interesting happened - I looked at 1D first and tried to do the anagram, and the first word that came to mind was actually the answer for 3A (which didn't actually fit the anagram or definition, it's just what came to mind when I saw the letters first).

Huh, I’m surprised I didn’t notice the similarity in fodder — maybe there was an opportunity to make PODIUM in the same way as UNIPOD (e.g. rear end of Nissan trashed in dodgy impound). Ah well, thanks for solving!

I kept thinking there was a mistake and 1D was clueing PODIUM. It's weird that the anagram fodder included another entry in a puzzle this small.

Yeah, I’m surprised I didn’t notice. It was a bit fiddly to find four words that overlapped in the way required for this grid, and I did try to make sure I didn’t clue the crossing portions in the same way. But maybe each answer sharing 50% with another means this sort of thing isn’t that unlikely. Thanks for solving!

I'm falling down a rabbit hole of trigram frequency. I'll report back if I find anything.

I couldn't find a lot, but from rough calculations and Fermi approximations, I'm getting about a 2.2% coincidence rate. It might be higher or lower by an order of magnitude or so because I didn't use anything special about the fact that it's a language or that it's halves of 6-letter words.

Great work, I know from experience how fiddly rebuses can be!
