Getting Down

· Di An Ephemeral Collation · Pubblicato 2024-05-13T18:34:38.071Z

Constructor's Note
I've noticed that some folks on here are on a downs-only solving kick so I thought I'd put a midi together that's a lot friendlier (or at the least, far less obnoxious) when approached via that direction.

I hope this was half as fun for you as it was dumb. Please read the clue for 10-A before commenting about the alternative answers for 1D and 4D being laughably wrong.

      Fun stuff!

German mathematician credited with the development of something called 'normal distribution' but I've only heard his name used in reference to curves, probably because I don't hang out with nerds.

Popular brand of iced tea confusingly headquartered in New York (then again, can you imagine thinking to yourself 'boy howdy, am I thirsty - I sure could go for a frosty can of New York right now!' What would New York iced tea taste like? Probably rats.)

The most prolific Japanese recording artist operating in the noise genre (over 500 releases last I checked, and I've heard most of them - because I'm dumb and I don't value my time as much as I probably should!)

Hot dog, or a fancier hot dog (there's some debate as to how synonymous hot dogs actually are here and I appreciate pedantry as much as the next person but imagine with everything that's going on in the world if this was the hill you chose to die on)

Slavic monarchs. EXPLICITLY Slavic monarchs. You can use the other spelling if you want - the one that also gets used in the west as slang for 'authority' or 'kingpin'. Honest, you can. I've even set up the Schrödinger squares for it. But you'll feel dumb because it'll make the affected down crossings completely wrong.

Disgusted reactions like one might utter if they stepped in animal droppings, walked in on their grandparents at the sex dungeon, stepped in their grandparents' droppings, walked in on animals at the animal sex dungeon, drank a frosty can of New York™ iced tea, walked in on their grandparents at the animal sex dungeon, tried to solve this puzzle using the across clues, etc.
